Caerdydd

Leah was really excited to see Karla who is over in the UK. I was excited too. I had heard lots of cool things about Holly, Karla’s Welsh friend who studied with Karla in LA. Leah met on her trip to the USA two years ago. Boy was I in for a treat. Leah is a ‘bundle of joy’ majority of the time but put her with her crazy sister and her equally energetic friend in a car for 2 hours from Birmingham to Cardiff…. Wow it was full on.

Cardiff was our destination. We were staying with Holly and her parents Rob and Hazel who were so welcoming and tolerant of the 3 girls haha. We ate like Kings with roasts, poached salmon and Yorkshire puddings. I even got to go with Rob to his local pub for some pints.

On our first full day, Holly drove us to Bath in England. A beautiful town made up of, you guessed it, stone and yes, there was a bath there too. We walked inside this ancient bathhouse that the Romans had built. The hot spring, once believed to be a gift from the gods, has been pumping for 1000’s of years and the Romans made it into an amazing old school day spa resort.  We got to walk around the different baths and treatment rooms and even got to try some of the ‘healing’ water from the hot spring (warm water, not that nice).

The delightful Welsh capital impressed us with its awesome castle smack bang in the middle of the city. Majority of the castle had been rebuilt but still held its charm. You could see some original brickwork around the edge of the castle and its scenic green grounds with mock up medieval tents and jousting arena gave us an idea of how it would of looked back in its prime.
That night, after feasting a little too much at an Asian buffet we decided to check out the local nightlife in Cardiff at ‘Glam’ nightclub. We all felt a little old and the girls felt they should be showing more skin too fit in. But we had a great night dancing up a storm.

On a nice windy day we went to check out Holly’s favourite beach and amusement park near Portney, west of Cardiff. It was nice to see waves again but it didn’t look appealing at all with the wind making the sea look viciously choppy. The amusement park was fun because we got to see real life gypsies who ran the park there was a parking lot of permanent and non-permanent caravans set up just like from the show ‘My big fat gypsy wedding’. We rode the dodgem cars, ate chips with curry sauce and ice cream with no one throwing up, yay!

Huge thanks to Holly for driving and showing us around and Rob and Hazel for putting us up. Haven’t laughed so much in a long time.
